The Detox

The Fat Flush Diet

Background:

The Fat Flush Diet, developed by Dr. Ann Louise, is a three phase diet that's geared towards weight loss and healthier eating habits. The main components of the Fat Flush include supporting a healthy liver, and getting just the right amount of essential fatty acids (EFAs).

Most People Complain About:

Not getting enough food, and poor exercise component for the first two phases. The calorie intake for Phase I (Detox Phase), can be as low as 1000, meaning that anything besides a brisk walk is probably pushing it.

Phase I - The Detox

Parameters:
  • Length: Two Weeks
  • Eating Plan:
    • 8 oz of Restricted Proteins
    • 2 servings of Restricted Fruits
    • Unlimited Servings of Restricted Veggies
    • 64oz of Cranberry Juice Mix
    • 16oz of a "Long Life Cocktail"
    • 2 servings of Flaxseed Oil
  • Exericse: Light to Moderate
  • Targeted Weight Loss: 10lbs, but some people can see as much as 20lbs.

Background:

Since I'm a small gal, I need approximately 1500 calories daily to maintain my weight, which is good for this detox since the calorie intake won't be as extreme for me, but also bad because it doesn't take very much food to make me gain weight. According to this Calorie Calculator, my intake should be about 1000 for extreme weight loss, even with exercising 3 times a week.

What's nice about Phase I is that Ann Louise states that should I decide to participate in more vigorous exercise, I can increase my protien intake. I'm guessing that I'll probably introduce this modification in the last half of the detox.
